Acid reflux can be the underlying cause
Acid reflux can play an important role in hoarseness. In acid reflux some of the acidic stomach content flows back up into the food pipe (esophagus) and irritates vocal cords, and eventually leads to hoarseness.
Most of the patients are not aware of the fact that they have acid reflux but think they have pharyngitis . It is not possible to get good results from treatments unless acid reflux, the real cause is eliminated. If you suffer from hoarseness, you should see a specialist doctor.
