This virus can even cause cancer

Genital warts, which are sexually transmitted and seen in both men and women, are a disease caused by the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus infection). The transmission rate between partners is about 60 percent.

HPV may remain silent in the body for many years after transmission, and even genital warts may not occur in everyone with HPV. HPV can be divided into two groups, low-risk and high-risk types, based on its cancer-causing potential.

The diagnosis of genital warts can be easily made through examination by an experienced dermatologist. In suspicious warts and/or for typing, it is possible to make a diagnosis by taking a biopsy or swab.
