What is a meniscus tear

The menisci control the movements in the knees, preventing the two bones below and above the leg from rubbing against each other during movement. Meniscus injuries are common in young individuals due to traumatic causes.

In advanced ages, on the other hand, they can occur without traumatic causes due to the decrease in the quality of the meniscus. Patients with meniscus injuries often experience pain, swelling, and locking in the knee.

Examination and MR imaging are used for diagnosis. This condition, which is defined as "meniscus tear," is treated with surgery and physical therapy.
