Appendicitis is the inflammation of the area known as the cecum for any reason. The most basic symptoms of appendicitis are abdominal pain, vomiting and loss of appetite.

The pain is initially around the belly, but after a while it descends to the lower right region of the abdomen and the person feels a constantly increasing pain.

Fever is usually the bursting of appendicitis among the people; that is, it occurs with the spread of inflammation into the abdomen. The diagnosis of appendicitis is usually performed by examination. However, in some cases, ultrasonography or computed tomography can also be used for diagnosis.

Appendicitis is treated with surgery. This treatment can be performed by open surgery or closed (laparoscopic) method. After the operations performed within the first 24 hours from the onset of the symptoms, the person can usually leave the hospital within 24 hours. However, if the intervention for appendicitis is delayed, the length of stay in the hospital is also prolonged.
