Delay in Diagnosis Prevents Copd Treatment
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) is defined as a chronic lung disease characterized by loss of elasticity in the lungs, shortness of breath, cough and restriction of airflow as a result of narrowing of the bronchi, which are air sacs. The disease usually progresses without any symptoms and causes complaints such as breathing difficulties, cough, shortness of breath and phlegm.
COPD, which ranks 4th among all causes of death in the world, is estimated to be the 3rd most common cause of death in the near future. Despite this, the disease is not well known by individuals and since it is not diagnosed, the basis for the progression of the disease is paved. COPD, which is a preventable and treatable disease, also poses a high risk for patients in terms of the development of heart diseases and lung cancer.
